A high-quality paint job can make a prototype look like a production level product. If the prototype needs to have an as-cast finish which resembles production molded plastic parts, we can apply a texture finish to achieve the desired look and feel. From textured to smooth, we can deliver concourse-level gloss finish that rivals the deep gloss shine of a brand-new car. In other cases, we can use paining when the budget is tight and find a solution to complete the project. Do you need your prototype to resemble an over-molded soft grip for handling but budget doesn’t allow for our casting department to do an over-molded prototype? We can achieve the look in paint with a soft touch clear that will not only fool the eye, but the hand too.
In order to achieve a high quality painted part, much like prototype finishing, it’s all in the prep. For precision painting, we utilize laser cutting to make proper masks. During the painting process, tape keeps the mask lines tight and clean. With masking, we can divide elements of your monolithic prototype into several finishes, giving the appearance of a more complicated effort, saving time and budget. We’ll create the ideal color with in-house color matching, adjust air pressure and thickness to create a gradient or apply other techniques to achieve the desired look.
With two full sized spray booths, each capable of accommodating a 1-ton pickup, we have the capacity for small to large scale projects. Both booths have down draft ventilation, ample light and can be heated up to 180 degrees. From one off prototypes to limited scale production runs, we have the tools to get the job done.
